Health Monitoring Medicals

Mobile Health Monitoring

Many jobs involve using chemicals that can be harmful to health if not properly controlled. For some chemicals, health monitoring (health surveillance) medicals can be used to indicate how effective control measures are and how much of the chemical has entered the body.

Conducting Health Monitoring Medicals is a way of assessing exposure and health risks, and involves measuring the chemical or its breakdown products in urine, blood or breath. People exposed to hazardous chemicals risk health problems, including respiratory disease, occupational asthma, skin conditions, hypersensitivity or in some cases cancer.

Employers have legal responsibilities to ensure health monitoring is provided to a worker if the worker is carrying out ongoing work using, handling, generating or storing hazardous chemicals.

Health Monitoring Medicals
For employees working in an environment where they are exposed to potential occupational hazards, a health surveillance program which includes baseline and periodic monitoring can assist in determining their exposure to risk and help with the early identification and remediation of these.

As a specialist Occupational Health organisation, our health monitoring programs are overseen by a Medical Practitioner and we offer medical services for the following exposures and chemicals:

isocyanates

lead (inorganic)

mercury (inorganic)

organophosphate pesticides

crystalline silica

asbestos

Occuhealth can provide on-site monitoring in Perth and around Western Australia. We can help you understand your health requirements surrounding chemical exposure in the workplace. Our registered medical practitioner is available for health monitoring medicals at both our Belmont and Mandurah locations.
