When the friable Asbestos fibres are released into the air and inhaled, fibres get trapped in the lungs causing diseases that can take five to twenty years before symptoms develop. It’s due to these health issues asbestos products have been completely banned in Australia since 2003.
Asbestos is a naturally occurring fibrous silicate mineral that was commonly used in building materials. This product is strong and heat resistant, which is why it was widely used.
