Drug and alcohol screening is standard practice in many workplaces. To ensure that specimen collection and analytical procedures are performed properly, it is recommended that the testing service provider is overseen by a Medical Review Officer (MRO).
A Medical Review Officer (MRO) is a person who is a licensed physician and who is responsible for receiving and reviewing laboratory results generated by an employer's drug testing program and evaluating medical explanations for certain drug test results.
MROs have detailed knowledge and experience when it comes to interpreting drug and alcohol test results, in addition to expert knowledge of substance use disorders. A Medical Review Officer can independently validate DAS test results and check that the specimen collection and analytical procedures are performed properly.
Our medical review officer is a registered medical practitioner with membership to The Australian Medical Review Officers Association (AMROA).
